Grants Intakes, 2020

The NVRC will accept applications to the 2020 Arts & Culture Grants Program in three intakes.  Please check the following for the timing of upcoming intakes for 2020.
 

Arts & Culture Grants, Early Intake

Grants Submission Deadline: Tuesday, October 15, 2019

Applications will be accepted to the following programs: Programming & Project Assistance, Celebrations & Events Grants and Community Public Art Grants.

Applications to the Early Intake will be accepted from Monday September 23 to Tuesday October 15, 2019 for:

  • Community Events, Major Cultural Celebrations and Arts Festivals that commence or that take place during the period from January 1 through August 10, 2020
  • Special Projects, New Initiatives or Events in Development that commence or that take place during the period from January 1 through August 10, 2020
  • the recurring annual programs of eligible applicants that commences or that takes place during the period from January 1 through August 10, 2020
  • the eligible Annual Programming of applicants whose fiscal year commences between January 1 and June 30
  • Community Public Art Projects

Grants recommendations are typically taken for approval in January.  The 2020 Early Intake grants are scheduled to be disbursed to successful applicants by late January/early February 2020.

Arts & Culture Grants, Operating Assistance Intake

Grants Submission Deadline: Monday, January 20, 2020

Applications to the 2020 Operating Assistance Intake will be accepted from Tuesday December 9, 2019 to Monday January 20, 2020. 

The Operating Assistance Intake is reserved solely for applications to the Operating Assistance program.  Grant requests to other programs will not be accepted at this time.  If you are considering applying for an Operating Assistance Grant but have not received one in the past five years, please submit an Expression of Interest no later than Monday November 25, 2019

Recommendations are typically taken for approval in March, and 2020 Operating Assistance Grants should be disbursed to successful applicants by the late March/early April 2020.

Arts & Culture Grants, Late Intake

Grants Submission Deadline: Tuesday, March 3, 2020

Applications will be accepted to the following programs: Programming & Project Assistance, Celebrations & Events Grants and Community Public Art Grants.

Applications to the Late Intake will be accepted from Monday February 10 to Tuesday March 3, 2020 for:

  • Community Events, Major Cultural Celebrations and Arts Festivals that commence or that take place during the period from July 15 through December 31, 2020
  • Special Projects, New Initiatives or Events in Development that commence or that take place during the period from July 15 through December 31, 2020
  • the recurring annual programs of eligible applicants that commences or that takes place during the period from July 15 through December 31, 2020
  • the eligible Annual Programming of applicants whose fiscal year commences after July 1
  • Community Public Art Projects

Grants recommendations are typically taken for approval in May.  Late Intake grants are scheduled to be disbursed to successful applicants by late May/early June 2020.

Grant eligibility and submission requirements can be found in the Program Guidelines for each funding stream.  In order to assist new and returning applicants navigate the funding process, NVRC offers several opportunities for support and guidance available to prospective grant applicants.
 

Arts & Culture Grants Information Workshop    Fir Room, Delbrook Community Recreation Centre
Wednesday, September 18, 2019 -- 6:30 to 8:00 pm

All potential grant applicants and interested parties are encouraged to attend this Workshop, where staff will provide important information about the Arts & Culture Grants Program: outline the policy goals and objectives behind the different grant streams, describe the intake process, and provide some tips for applicants.
 

Arts & Culture Grants Application Workshop    Location tbd
Tuesday, September 24, 2019 -- 6:30 to 8:00 pm

Whether you’re a first-time grant-writer, a novice looking to improve your results, or an experienced applicant hoping to better understand the grant process, this workshop will help you understand the granting process, share some tips on effective grant writing and budgeting, and give you the tools you need to succeed in the granting arena.
 

Individual Grant Applicant Mentorship    Cypress Room, Delbrook Community Recreation Centre
Thursday, September 26, 2019 -- 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (Early Intake)
Wednesday, February 12, 2020 -- 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (Late Intake)

Grants staff will provide one-on-one feedback on in-progress grant applications.  Eligible applicants are invited to reserve a 30-minute slot.
