It's the place to be every Friday night!

North Shore residents are always ecstatic when the beloved Shipyards Night Market rolls around each year. This year, the weekly event opened its doors on May 4th, and runs every Friday from 5-10 pm until September 28th.

Packed with all kinds of locally made goods, music, entertainment, and food, and set against the backdrop of the beautiful Burrard Inlet with the Vancouver city skyline gleaming across the water, the Shipyards Night Market is the perfect place to shop while getting some fresh air and connecting with the community. Read on for five reasons to haul the whole family to the market this season!

  1. The Shopping
It may seem a bit obvious to include shopping as a reason to visit a market, but hear me out - this isn’t your average shopping venture. For one thing, everything is made locally, and for another, the variety is unbelievable. Soap, skincare, jewelry, clothing, food, plants, toys, art, and so much more can be found at this impeccably curated market. There is something for literally everyone.
  2. The Food
One rule of thumb for visiting the Night Market is to come hungry! A diverse array of food trucks await you, purveying Thai, Indian, Greek, vegan, burgers, crepes, wood fired pizza and a myriad of other choices. No matter what your culinary tastes are, there’s something to satisfy any craving at the Shipyards Market.
  3. Community Connection
Being such a popular event, the Night Market draws many people from all sorts of neighbourhoods, backgrounds and cultures. It’s a great chance to get to know the people in the community, and to connect with other families, since it’s such a kid-friendly event. Another way you connect with community by visiting the market is by meeting the many North Vancouver-based vendors. Supporting the local economy helps everyone!
  4. Entertainment for All
From face painting and animal balloons for the kids to the beer garden (serving local craft beer, cider and more) for the adults, to live music featuring local talent for everyone, the Night Market offers so much more than just shopping and food. This market is a fully immersive experience that delivers entertainment for all. Boredom is simply not an option here!
  5. Location, Location, Location
Situated at the bottom of Lonsdale in the Shipyards area, the Night Market is in the perfect location, easily accessible to North Shore residents and those travelling across the water. Shopping by the water and enjoying seaside air is a nice change from a cramped mall, and the pier is an excellent place to take your dinner and enjoy the beautiful views. There are several parks within walking distance, too!

Have you ever been to the Shipyards Night Market? If not, we hope we’ve convinced you to experience this amazing North Vancouver gem. Click here for more information. We hope to see you there!
