Smoothies are an easy way to boost your intake of fresh vegetables, fruits and fibre. Not only do they increase your hydration, nutrition, and help you stay fuller for longer, they take only minutes to make and taste fantastic!
Here are a few great recipes that are both yummy and good for you – tested on kids of various ages! Prep time under 5 minutes!
Best Breakfast Smoothie
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
2 bananas
2 cups berries (frozen or fresh)
½ cup Greek yogurt
1 cup almond milk
½ cup oats
2 tbsp almond butter
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a big glass. Enjoy!
Blueberry Spinach Smoothie
You won’t even taste the spinach!
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
2 cups blueberries (frozen or fresh)
2 cups fresh spinach
2/3 cup Greek yogurt or 1 banana (vegan option)
1 ½ cups milk (nut or rice milk works too)
2 tbsp hemp hearts or flax seeds
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a big glass. Enjoy!
The Green Machine
This is a power salad in a glass!
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen berries (mixed)
1 cup frozen mango chunks
1 ripe avocado, skinned and cored
1 inch knob of ginger, peeled
2 cups kale
1 cup almond milk
2 tbsp hemp hearts or flax seeds
Drizzle of honey
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth.
- Pour into a big glass. Enjoy!
Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
Here’s one for the pumpkin lover and a great way to use up the gourd of the season!
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
1 cup milk (or non-dairy milk)
2 bananas
4 dates (pitted)
1 cup pumpkin puree (fresh or canned)
2 cups ice cubes
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp ground ginger
¼ tsp ground nutmeg
2 tbsp flax seeds
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a big glass. Enjoy!
Seasonal Apple Cider Smoothie
Here’s one to toast the apple season!
Servings: 2
Ingredients:
2 large apples, cut and cored
2 handfuls of spinach
2 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 cup water
1 cup ice cubes
2 tbsp pumpkin seeds
1 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
- Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth and frothy.
- Pour into a big glass. Enjoy!
