Black Code: A Documentary on Data Privacy

January 28th is Data Privacy Day, which highlights how technology impacts our privacy rights and the importance of valuing and protecting personal information.

Join us for a screening of the documentary Black Code, based on the book of the same name by author Ron Deibert, which explores the ways that technology has facilitated an increasingly sophisticated surveillance infrastructure. The film illustrates how modern conveniences can betray you at every moment, emitting a “digital exhaust” which snooping governments and corporations can suck up and use to their advantage.

After the movie, feel free to discuss this important topic with others, and take advantage of handouts which will give you advice about how to take action to protect your privacy online.

Drop in! No registration required.
