The 120 musicians of Laudate Singers, Paragon Singers and Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra join forces to present two thrilling and diverse classics - Orff’s Carmina Burana and Mozart’s Requiem.
Mozart’s Requiem - Veronica Roenitz, Janet Zathureczky, Jessica De Gaust, Sergio Augusto, Barry Honda, Andrew Wilson
Orff’s Carmina Burana - Rachel Buttress, Kilian Benson, Cameron Killick
Based on a medieval collection of poems found in an old German abbey, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana oratorio celebrates the fickleness of fortune and wealth, the ephemeral nature of life, the joy of the return of spring, and the pleasures and perils of drinking, gluttony, gambling and lust. It's an incredible explosion of sound and after the last two years, we can all welcome the opportunity to celebrate the joys of life!
Requiem is the only mass for the dead in Mozart’s extensive catalogue and his final work. Due to Mozart’s death, the Requiem was unfinished and the mysterious circumstances surrounding its commission and composition have built the legend and fascination with this magnificent opus that continues to this day. A beautiful and poignant masterpiece.
