The Polygon Gallery presents the Canadian premiere of the delectably colourful traveling exhibition Feast for the Eyes from June 4–August 23, 2020. Curated by writer Susan Bright and Aperture Foundation’s senior editor Denise Wolff, the group exhibition tells the history of photography through the enticing lens of food. From fine art photographs to commercial advertising, Feast for the Eyes brings together more than 100 images by over 60 artists, including works by Pop Art icon Andy Warhol, notorious Japanese artist Nobuyoshi Araki, and influential contemporary photographer Cindy Sherman. The exhibition is divided into three themes — Still Life, Around the Table, and Playing With Your Food — which explore the lasting influence of painting on photographic practices, social and cultural rituals around mealtimes, and the seductive nature of food that ignites our six senses.
