Trans Am Totem & Our Beautiful West Coast Thing

Join artists Marcus Bowcott and Helene Aspinall for a lively illustrated lecture as they share the story behind the creation of Marcus' monumental public art installation, Trans Am Totem. Gain insight into his creative process and the complexities of creating public art. Trans Am Totem, composed of five real scrap cars stacked upon an old growth cedar tree, was installed in Vancouver as part of the Biennale in 2015. The Art Sundays series is generously sponsored by Opus Art Supplies. *Please note this presentation was re-scheduled from March 19. Marcus Bowcott spent his early career as a deckhand and longshoreman. He received an MA in art from the Royal College of Art in London and was an instructor at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and Capilano University for many years.
