Reducing Natural Gas Consumption

Provincial natural gas service is currently impacted by the rupture of a natural gas line north of Prince George.
Natural gas supplier FortisBC has asked one million customers to lower their thermostats and limit other gas use as much as possible while the damage is repaired.

North Vancouver Recreation & Culture’s Response
NVRC facilities use natural gas to heat many buildings and both pool and domestic water (showers, sinks, etc.).  In response, NVRC is taking the following conservation measures while the pipeline is being repaired:
  • NVRC building thermostats will be turned down a few degrees to reduce heating demand
  • NVRC is recommending that customers take shorter and/or cooler showers in facilities.
We appreciate our customer’s cooperation with these energy conservation measures.
