Q. When did NVRC facilities close and when will they re-open
A. All North Vancouver Community Recreation Centres, North Vancouver Tennis Centre and Centennial Theatre were closed on March 16, 2020 in order to lower the risk of exposure and spread of COVID-19 in our community.
NVRC facilities remain closed until further notice based on directives from provincial and local health authorities. Currently, there is no confirmed date for re-opening. We will continue to provide updates to customers on our website and through our eNewsletters and social media.
We heard that NVRC is looking to offer some summer programs:
Q. Why were summer programs cancelled?
A. All previously planned summer programs and events (including camps), as advertised in NVRC’s 2020 Spring/Summer Leisure Guide are cancelled. This is because they were planned prior to directives being placed on facility operations, sanitization, physical distancing and event size.
Q. Will NVRC be offering day camps?
A. Currently, a limited number of outdoor classes and re-imagined summer activities are being considered. We will not be offering our traditional large group day camps. Any programs offered this summer will have health and safety protocols in place, including procedures for physical distancing.
Q. Will there be outdoor fitness classes? What will they cost? Will they be free for fitness members?
A. At this time, staff are exploring possible options for outdoor fitness classes and we will update our website as more information becomes available.
Q. When will you be announcing what summer programs you will offer?
A. Information on new offerings will be posted at nvrc.ca as it becomes available. NVRC will also include notices in our Recreation & Arts eNewsletters. Q. I have a fitness membership - will it be extended? Can I get a refund?
A. All Fitness Memberships will be extended to cover the amount of time NVRC facilities are closed. The additional time will be added to the memberships once NVRC facilities have re-opened.
Alternatively, if fitness members wish to cancel their membership now, they will receive a pro-rated refund as of March 16, 2020. To cancel a fitness membership and receive a refund, customers can phone our call centre at 604-987-7529 Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
Q. How will my refund be processed?
A. Your refund will be based on your method of payment. Once processed, you will receive confirmation by email of the refund.
- For online and phone registrations your payment will be refunded directly to the credit card originally used to pay for the registration or membership.
- For those registrations made in person (paid by cash, debit, credit card or cheque) a credit will be placed on your account. If you would like to have your credit paid out to you, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include your current mailing address. A cheque will be mailed to you.
Q. When will my refund be processed?
A. Our staff are working hard to process refunds within 30 days. Thank you for your patience.
Indoor facility rentals
Q. Are NVRC facilities available for private rentals?
A. All indoor facility rentals scheduled up until August 31, 2020 are cancelled until further notice.
Indoor facility rental requests for September 2020 to March 2021 can be sent to email@example.com however, we will not be confirming availability and issuing contracts at this time.
Q. I had a room booked at one of NVRC’s Community Recreation Centre’s in August. Will I get a refund?
A. Anyone who paid a deposit or full fee for any NVRC facility rentals up to Aug 31, 2020, and was impacted by the closures due to COVID-19 will be receiving a refund.
Q. Can I book a facility rental for spring or summer 2021?
A. Spring and summer 2021 booking season for rentals will open up in December 2020.

A. Yes we are open 8:30am-4:30pm Monday - Friday, and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org and 604-983-6395.
