Presented by Capilano University’s Arts & Entertainment Management students, the event brings together students and local musicians for an evening of live performances, community engagement, and friendly competition. Exciting performances and live in-person voting will determine the winner of Crown the Sound 2026!

Jenn Grant – "Queen of the Strait: Cradled by the Waves"

Acclaimed Canadian artist Jenn Grant invites audiences into an unforgettable new world with Cradled by the Waves, a ground-breaking live tour that transforms her forthcoming album, Queen of the Strait, into a stunning multimedia performance blending music, film, theatre, and dance. Grant’s most personal work to date, Queen of the Strait draws from her childhood in Prince Edward Island and the timeless pull of the Atlantic. The live experience reimagines those songs in motion-a moving meditation on grief, transformation, and the beauty of beginning again.

The Addams Family Musical, a comical romp that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story that is every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. What? It can’t be! Everything is about to change for the whole family, especially when Wednesday convinces her father Gomez to host a dinner for her “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

The Music of Kenny Wheeler Featuring Jennifer Scott, Brad Turner and CapU Jazz Ensembles

Internationally acclaimed Canadian trumpeter and composer Kenny Wheeler left an indelible mark on the jazz world with his uniquely lyrical, harmonically adventurous music. BlueShore at CapU proudly pays tribute to Wheeler’s remarkable legacy with a performance of his most iconic works. The evening stars Brad Turner on trumpet and vocalist/pianist Jennifer Scott, accompanied by CapU Jazz Ensembles.

Little Women

Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel Little Women comes to life in Thomas Hischack’s beloved stage adaptation. The March daughters—Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy—face triumph and tragedy as they grow up, fall in love, and make their way through the tumult of the American Civil War era. This warm, touching, and crowd-pleasing tale showcases the strength and courage of young women and the men who love them.

Celebrate Africa!

After last year’s sold-out smash show, Celebrate Africa! returns for another evening of fabulous music and dance featuring a multitude of musicians and dancers.

Leading the musical brigade is Capilano University faculty member Kofi Gbolonyo, a revered performer and expert in West African traditional music and dance. The show will also include CapU's African Drum & Dance Ensemble, C Band and Percussion Ensemble, as well as incredible guests such as Dawn Pemberton, Khari McClelland and others.

Ablaye Cissoko and Cyrille Brotto

Senegalese griot Ablaye Cissoko and French multi-instrumentalist Cyrille Brotto take audiences on an intimate journey, melding the deep traditions of their very different musical cultures while showcasing music’s ability to expand traditions and connect individuals. Cissoko’s delicate voice and kora combined with the brilliant sound of Brotto’s diatonic accordion create a remarkably warm and graceful music that fuses West African Mandingo culture, French traditional music, jazz, and classical music.
