Call for performing artists for North Vancouver Recreation & Culture’s 2024 events

North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is accepting applications for performing, visual and multidisciplinary artists to be part of its Live & Local outdoor event series and Centennial Theatre’s Artist & Musicians Performance Series (AMPS) concerts.

Live & Local delivers free, fun community experiences for North Vancouver residents and visitors. The AMPS concerts feature local up-and-coming performers from a wide range of musical genres. NVRC events are free or low-cost to encourage community connection, celebration of cultural richness and diversity, and enjoyment of the arts.

Emerging, mid-career and professional artists in visual arts, music, dance, theatre and entertainment from all genres are encouraged to apply. 

Opportunities are available for the following events:

  • Centennial Theatre’s AMPS concert series – successful applicants will perform in a 650-seat theatre with full technical capabilities or the intimate black box studio. This program is focused on emerging artists, but all are welcome to apply. Artist will receive an honorarium and a percentage of ticket sales after expenses. Each night there will be two artists/bands each performing a 45-60 minute set.
  • Live & Local Artist Sessions – successful applicants will bring unique and engaging experiences to North Vancouver neighbourhoods. Artists will provide acoustic performances that do not require access to electrical. They will provide any required sound equipment, technical support and supplies as a part of their act. Performances will be one hour in length and artists will be paid $300.
  • Live & Local Plaza Pop-ups – successful applicants will bring unique experiences, workshops or performances to outdoor plazas in North Vancouver. Artists will be self-sufficient and provide any sound equipment, technical support and supplies as part of their performance or experiences. Access to electrical is provided. Performance opportunities may range from 30 minutes to two hours in length. Please include compensation expectations in your application.
  • Live & Local Concerts – successful applicants will bring energetic and engaging music performances to various outdoor audiences. Sound equipment and technical support will be provided. Performances will be two hours in length. Please include compensation expectations in your application.

NVRC recognizes that Indigenous art plays a key role in the community. Indigenous artists bring much needed perspectives, knowledge and skills to the wide variety of arts opportunities offered within NVRC. Applications from artists who are Indigenous, as well as from artists who are Black or persons of colour, are encouraged and welcomed.

Artists can apply online until April 15, 2024. Detailed information which may include performance video links, a biography, sound files, photos, and links to social media and website will be required.
