If you’re interested in volunteering with summer camps and you have infinite energy, enjoy working with children or are eager to explore working with children, we invite you to join us for a memorable summer filled with new friendships and fun. Here‘s how you can get involved
- Eligibility: Volunteers must be least 14 years of age before their first shift. To ensure the best fit and to help youth develop confidence and communication skills, we ask volunteers to contact us directly. Parents are encouraged to support their children by offering guidance and encouraging them through the process.
- Commitment: Volunteers are required to commit to one full week minimum. Camps typically run 8:45am-4:15pm for full day camps, and morning and afternoon sessions for part day camps.
- Application Process: See the “Volunteer application process” section below
- Placement: Volunteers who have completed their volunteer application, may complete a Summer Camps 2026 Volunteer Preferences form.
Placements will be made based upon organizational needs, volunteer and camp matches, and date of application. Priority will be given to returning volunteers. You will generally be placed with a camp where there is at least a 3-year age gap between yourself and the campers. To increase the chances of getting your preferred camp placements, submit your preferences form as early as possible. Assignments will be confirmed in early June. - Training: We train volunteers prior to camp to ensure you have the information and support to have the best summer. Attendance at training is mandatory. If you cannot attend training, you will not be eligible to volunteer for summer camps. New volunteers must attend new volunteer training. Returning summer camp volunteers can choose between new or returning camp training. If you are unable to make the set training sessions (schedule coming soon) but want to volunteer, contact volunteer@nvrc.ca to discuss.
We look forward to having you on our team and making this summer unforgettable!
