• Why is NVRC adding a virtual waiting room?

  The virtual waiting room helps manage high volumes of online traffic during our popular seasonal registration days, making the experience more reliable and transparent for everyone.

• When will I be put into the virtual waiting room?

  Only during high-traffic seasonal registrations — swimming, skating, tennis, camps and general program registration. Other registrations, such as weekly registration for Book-a-Visit classes, will not have a virtual waiting room.

• When should I log in to the system on registration day?

  To join the waiting room, visit the NVRC registration site between 6:45–6:59am on registration day. You'll see a holding screen, and at 7am, you'll be randomly assigned a place in line along with an estimated wait time. 

  There is no advantage to visiting the registration site before 6:45am — if you do, you'll need to refresh your browser after 6:45am to enter the waiting room.

  Arriving after 7am? You'll be added to the line in the order you arrive and will see your place in line and estimated wait time.

• Will North Vancouver residents still get priority registration access?

  Yes. North Vancouver residents still receive early access for high-demand programs like swimming, skating and tennis, with registration opening at 7am for residents and 9am for non-residents.

• Will I be able to see my place in line?

  Yes. You'll see your position in the line and estimated wait time in real time, no guessing or refreshing needed. 

• What do I need to do when it’s my turn to register?

  When your wait is over and you get into the registration system, add all your programs to your cart and check out in one visit. Act quickly — others may be registering for the same programs at the same time and spaces aren't confirmed until checkout is complete. To speed things up, browse programs before registration day and have a list of your course ID numbers handy. If you need to go back and register for more programs after you’ve checked out, you'll need to wait in line again. 

• What happens if I close my browser while waiting?

  If you close your browser anytime between 6:45am and 6:59am, you will need to navigate back to the NVRC registration site to re-enter the waiting room. Once registration opens at 7am and you're in line or on the registration site, do not close your browser or navigate away during checkout, or you may have to go back to the end of the line. 

• Can I sign in on multiple browser windows for extra chances to get in more quickly?

  No. The system will only let you have one place in line per device, so there is no point in logging in on multiple windows. 

• What can I do to prepare for a smooth registration?

  A few things help: 

  • Browse programs in advance and note your course ID numbers.
  • Don’t close the waiting room tab. 
  • Use Google Chrome for the best experience. 
  • Avoid opening other apps — especially social media — as they can cause your browser to refresh and potentially lose your place in line. 
• What device and browser should I use for registration?

  For the best experience, use Google Chrome on a fully charged computer, tablet or mobile phone.

• What if I don't get into my desired program?

  Join the waitlist right away. If a spot opens up, NVRC will contact waitlisted individuals in the order they signed up.

• Can I register in person instead of online?

  Self-registering online with an NVRC account is the fastest way to register. This will give you the best chance of getting into the programs and activities you want. However, you can also register in person at our recreation centres or by phone — call Customer Service at 604-987-7529.
