Jennipher Shillings

Jennipher Shillings is a multi-talented artist whose creative endeavours span music, graphic design, and architecture. Born to Kenyan parents in eSwatini and primarily raised in Vancouver, Canada, Jennipher is a true third culture kid. Drawing inspiration from musical luminaries such as Nina Simone, Kirk Franklin, Adele, and Paul Simon, she weaves these influences together with her African heritage to craft a genre-defying sound that is distinctly African and refreshingly contemporary.

Rooted in her love of folk music and championing her African roots, Jennipher delivers lyrically grounded performances infused with rich melodies and powerful storytelling. As an intentional lyricist, her songs are raw, introspective, and emotionally resonant. With every performance, she aims to honour the rich history of African music while cultivating connections that transcend borders and cultures.
