Sissoko Segal Parisien Peirani: Les Égarés

Les Égarés is a genre-spanning jazz-folk-Anatolian band featuring Malian kora maverick Ballaké Sissoko, France’s renowned cellist Vincent Segal, accordion virtuoso Vincent Peirani and soprano saxophonist Émile Parisien, whose gorgeous, voice-like playing echoes the great Sidney Bechet. The quartet’s name means “those who stray” and all four musicians prove their credentials of possessing experimental genre-crossing brilliance.

Nik Bärtsch's Ronin

Nik Bärtsch's Ronin is a prog-jazz-band from Zurich, Switzerland. The quartet was founded in 2001 by the Swiss pianist, composer and producer Nik Bärtsch. Ronin’s music combines various musical styles including funk, new classical music and elements of Japanese ritual music. The insistent rhythms also suggest the minimalism of Steve Reich. Bärtsch has called their style "zen-funk".

“My favorite set from the entire four-day event (Big Ears Festival 2024) - and probably one of my top shows ever - came Thursday evening with Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin” - SPIN
