The centre is open! Check back often for the latest news and updates as this page will be updated regularly as new amenities, activities and services become available.
Starting Monday, July 27, the centre is open with 'try-it' and drop-in activities, and tours provided by NVRC volunteers. What's available
While most amenities in the new centre - including the fitness areas, gymnasium, art studio, youth centre, multipurpose rooms and atrium - are open as of July 27, the aquatic area and changerooms are not quite yet ready for use. Customers are able to change in one of the washrooms, but shower facilities will not be available until the changerooms open, which is expected to happen in August.
The aquatics facility is expected to be ready for programming and lessons this fall. Modern pools need a lot of behind-the-scenes work before they can safely open: testing water treatment and filtration systems, training staff on new equipment, and getting health authority inspections and approvals. The opening date for the aquatic facilities will be announced as soon as all required approvals have been received.
Ice is being installed in the arena right now and it will open with the first family and public skates on August 18.
The facility is owned by the City of North Vancouver and operated by NVRC. For more information on the design and construction of the new HJCRC, visit cnv.org/hjcrc.
