Centennial Theatre can accommodate a wide range of productions. Safety Protocols for Rental Groups

Centennial Theatre is pleased to be re-opening with operating procedures that comply with Provincial Public Health Orders.   Our protocols are in place to keep you and our staff as safe as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we welcome the community back to the theatre.

Proof of Vaccination

Centennial theatre On Stage  Performers & Organization Volunteers, Crew and Staff

For On Stage Performers: 
By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), 

  • Non-professional un-paid performers aged 21 and under are exempt from the mandatory vaccine checks while performing on stage, as this is deemed to be a recreational activity for youth.  
  • Non-professional un-paid performers and volunteers over the age of 21, vaccine checks are required.   It is up to the renting organization to oversee vaccine checks.  
  • Professional paid performers and paid stage crew are not required for vaccine checking unless the organization’s employer requires this. It is up to the renter organization to determine if they want their employees working on site to be vaccinated.  It is up to the organization to oversee vaccine checks.  

Centennial theatre audience members: 
By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), Audience members aged 12 years and older attending the following events must be fully vaccinated:

  • Indoor ticketed concerts, theatre, dance, symphony and sporting events
  • Movie theatres
  • Indoor organized gatherings like weddings, parties, conferences, meetings and workshops 
  • The Renter Organization is responsible for ‘checking vaccine status’ at the door of the theatre for all ticket holders, and volunteers.

Providing proof of Vaccination

BC Residents
BC residents 19 years and older, must show their BC Vaccine Card – either on your mobile phone or a paper printed version and,

  • A piece of valid government photo ID (legible copies are acceptable), for example:

  • B.C. driver's licence or BC Services Card
  • Passport
  • Photo ID issued by another province or territory

People from other provinces or territories

  • Provincially/territorially officially recognized vaccine record
  • Valid government photo ID

International Visitors

  • Proof of vaccination they used to enter Canada (like ArriveCAN)

  • Passport

Youth aged 12-18 years

Youth aged 12 to 18 can carry their own BC Vaccine Card, or have a trusted adult carry it for them.  Youth are not required to show valid government photo ID

Seating Capacity - As of October 25, 2021, the Public Health Order seating capacity for indoor venues has lifted. Centennial Theatre is back to full capacity of 658 seats. Seating plans and spacing can be provided as needed.  Please discuss seating plans with Box Office Clerk at the time of creating ticket services. 

It is the renters’ responsibility to meet the existing Public Health Order requirements by conducting mandatory vaccine checks with all audience members. More information can be found on the Province of BC’s website.  

Masks/face coverings are mandatory in all public indoor spaces for everyone 5 years old and older, including all areas of Centennial Theatre. Masks must be worn at all other times and can be removed when eating or drinking and performing on stage.

While physical distancing is no longer required, we ask all rental group participants to do their best to minimize congregating indoors.

Performances may have intermissions and the concession may be open with limited options.

Box Office and Ticket Purchases 
If Centennial Theatre is providing ticketing, ticket purchases will be done on-line, by telephone or in-person during limited box office hours.
If the ticketing is being handled by the rental group, all information about ticketing, refunds and information will be directed to the renter group ticketing coordinator.

Hand sanitizing stations will be available for rental group staff and performers at entrances, near the elevator, near auditorium entrances and in other high trafficked areas. Entry will be denied if illness is apparent. 

Bar / Concessions - Services will be provided when possible.  If services are not possible, this will be conveyed to the renter.  

Washrooms - Signage for maximum capacity will be posted outside of washroom entrances. Please comply accordingly.
