Need Help Accessing a Community Recreation Centre?

At the North Vancouver Recreation and Culture Commission, we are committed to improving accessibility to our facilities for all North Shore residents. All Centres and Community Centres have:

  • Designated accessible parking stalls
  • Extra wide parking stalls for ramped accessible vehicles
  • Automatic doors into the buildings.

Accessibility Features

Delbrook Community Recreation Centre
851 West Queens Road

  • Accessible parking stalls in the underground parking near the elevators.
  • Elevator access to all floors.
  • Several accessible change rooms, washrooms and showers including universal change rooms plus a special change room with a ceiling mounted lift and adult-sized change table with slings available to loan.
  • Wheelchair elevator for the main pool and whirlpool. Walk-in entry for the leisure pool. Aquatic wheelchairs available. 
  • Hydro-Fit Wet Vests and neck noodles available for loan.
  • The main entrance is wheelchair accessible with a 15-minute drop-off zone on the south side of Queens Road.
  • Wheelchair accessible washrooms.
  • Wheelchair accessible counters and sinks in the Pottery Studio and Art Studio
  • Braille labels on room name signs.
  • Audio enhancement technology for the hearing impaired in the multi-purpose/seniors space.
  • Accessible fitness centre layout

  • 4 rooms equipped with assisted hearing loops & receivers for people who have an appropriate hearing aid, plus 4 receivers for people without a hearing aid
  • Wheelchair accessible gymnasium & art studio
  • Elevator to all floors with Braille signage and voice enunciator

Karen Magnussen Community Recreation Centre

  • 2 wheelchair accessible family changerooms
  • Accessible weight room
  • 7 aquatic wheelchairs for in-pool use
  • Personal transfer lift for transfer from chair to chair or for transfer use in the changerooms
  • Therapy pool with wheelchair ramp kept at body temperature
  • Gradual depth in pool for easy access
  • Warm water temperature in wave pool for people with circulation difficulties
  • Wheelchair accessible arena and ice surface
Parkgate Community Centre

  • Audio Frequency Induction Loop System (AFILS) for hearing assistance
