Romeo and Juliet

Marc Garneau

Marc Garneau never expected to become an astronaut. But then he saw an ad in the paper. NASA was inviting two Canadians to fly on its 1984 space shuttle to thank us for designing the rocket’s robotic arm. His application successful, Garneau became the first Canadian in space. Twenty-four years later, Garneau made history yet again, becoming the first astronaut to be elected as a Member of Parliament.

Canadian-born, Annapolis, Maryland-based Jeff Antoniuk is an internationally acclaimed jazz composer and saxophonist. His recordings with the Jazz Update and the MARS 4-tet reveal a musician with exceptional technique and compositional prowess, with many tunes elevated by a reverence for African and world-based rhythms and harmonies. Over the decades, Antoniuk has shared the stage with such jazz and R&B luminaries Ray Charles, Marcus Miller, Jimmy Haslip and David Foster.
