This artwork proclaims the moment of launch – feelings of hope, anticipation and excitement. It acknowledges the site’s transformation, from a workplace for men and women who pioneered the community, to a place for the next generation to build upon.

About the Artist:
Elizabeth Roy was born in Ottawa and received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan, in 1984. Ms. Roy is currently the Acting Chair at the Foundations area at the University of Manitoba School of Art. She taught previously at Emily Carr University in Vancouver, BC.
