About the Artist:
The work of Vancouver sculptor James Koester is a study of contrasts. Working in found and forged metal, Koester’s work exhibits a poetic strength. Juxtaposing hard metal surfaces with more ephemeral objects and materials, these works demand the viewers’ attention challenging our visual and cognitive senses. James Koester is one of a handful of artists that successfully straddles the worlds of fine art and craft, melding these two worlds into a body of work that is both intensely personal and accessible.
