The District of North Vancouver Public Art Program, coordinated through the North Vancouver Arts Office is currently accepting Expressions of Interest from artists or artist teams to create and install a public artwork on the 'western' section of the North Vancouver Spirit Trail.
The goal of this public art project is to create an inventive landmark feature that will serve as a “must see” destination point along the Spirit Trail. The site selected for the artwork is situated at a juncture between two roadways, industrial lands and natural parkland, providing a perfect convergence point for the placement of a vertical element.
PUBLIC ART OBJECTIVES
- Deliver an aesthetically significant impact at the corner of 1st Street and Welsh Ave;
- Provide a direct correlation with at least one unique site specific element;
- Provide ongoing interest for regular commuters;
- Be sensitive to the District of North Vancouver’s goals for creating sustainable design.
