Anthem Properties, through the City of North Vancouver Developer Public Art Program seeks an artist or artist team to create a public artwork for their 13-storey residential development at 1600 Eastern in the Central Lonsdale area of the City of North Vancouver. Envisioned as a highly-accessible, livable and family friendly development, Eastern will provide 225 rental housing units in this dynamic and evolving urban neighbourhood.
The public art opportunity is for an artwork on the exterior walls of the building entrance at the corner of Eastern Avenue and East 17th Street, with the potential for an expanded series or sequence of related artworks in the open green spaces along Eastern Avenue, towards the planned new public park. The identified public art opportunity allows for a wide range of possibilities in 3-dimensional and 2-dimensional form and media, including light.
With high public visibility and accessibility, public art at this location will provide a significant contribution to the experience and enjoyment of the public realm creating a welcoming and engaging context for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
