NVRC fitness centres switch to cloth towels

A folded purple cloth towel, with a white and purple spray bottle resting on top.

In late July, all NVRC fitness centres are replacing paper towels with cloth towels and sanitizer spray, a change designed to reduce operating costs while keeping equipment clean.

The Delbrook fitness centre put cloth towels to the test starting in November 2025, and the change worked well for customers and resulted in cost savings. Following this successful pilot, we’re expanding the use of cloth towels to all our fitness centres.

Why the switch?
Paper towel and waste disposal costs add up over time, especially when people use more than they need. Cloth towels offer a cost-effective alternative without compromising cleanliness — they're laundered and sanitized after every use using high heat and disinfectants.

Using the new system is simple
1.    Grab a towel from the bin marked Clean when you arrive.
2.    Spray your towel with sanitizer.
3.    Wipe down equipment after each use.
4.    Drop it in the bin marked Dirty when you're done your workout.

Need another towel partway through your workout? Just grab a fresh one from the Clean bin, anytime.

Please leave towels in the gym
Towels are free to use, not to keep! Please leave them in the Dirty bin in the gym when you finish your workout.

Thank you for supporting this effort to manage costs while keeping our fitness centres clean and safe for everyone.
