Tell me more! Tell me more! Centennial Theatre is presenting the musical sensation, Bear Grease, for one night only. Written and created by hip-hop duo LightningCloud (Crystle Lightning and MC RedCloud/Henry Andrade), Bear Grease puts an Indigenous twist on this classic story of high school love.
Beloved characters stay authentic to the originals while adding cultural flair through fashion, humour and music. The score blends 1950s doo-wop sound with traditional drumming and flute, and hip-hop elements.
“Growing up, I didn’t see people like me in popular culture. We created this show as a way to celebrate our identity and have some fun with one of our favourite musicals,” says Lightning. “We also see the show as a way to share our culture and humour more broadly while staying true to the things everyone loves about the original Grease – there’s something for everyone in Bear Grease.”
The show is an electrifying experience that joyfully celebrates Indigenous culture. It has toured across Canada and the United States to sold out crowds. Don’t miss this hilarious and highly entertaining night of catchy songs, cool dance moves and witty dialogue.
