Isles of Cream reimagines Belle Isle Park as a place of reminiscence, where childhood memories coalesce with urban transformation. The public artwork draws inspiration from the site being the remnant of a small island at the mouth of Capilano River. The melted ice cream orbs are “left behind” like our childhood innocence, bringing the bygone and the present together into a moment of intimacy and bittersweetness.
