A herd of miniature, concrete cows can be found around bus shelters, planters and pedestrian seating along Lonsdale Avenue between 1st and 3rd Streets. The bus shelters have been fitted with additional information about the project. Developed in conjunction with a transit system upgrade to Lonsdale Avenue, the Lost Cows of Lillooet references two historic transportation networks of from North Vancouver’s past; the Burrard-Lillooet Cattle Trail, and the Log Flumes of the North Shore. By playfully contrasting past and present day activities, the public art work celebrates the pioneer spirit that was integral to North Vancouver’s growth and development.
