An 18-foot, colourful totem pole depicting a thunderbird, raven, frog and salmon stands in front of Seaspan’s (formally Cates) main office in North Vancouver. This 18 foot pole was originally carved in 1948 by Master Carver Tommy Moses, as a gift to Mayor Charles Cates. From then on, the pole stood by the Cates Tug at the foot of Lonsdale for 70 years.
In 2024 the pole was refurbished by local Squamish Nation master carver Daren Yelton. It was then moved to Seaspan's head office at the foot of Pemberton Avenue with an "Opening of the Eyes" ceremony in 2025.
