The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission and City of North Vancouver are inviting Expressions of Interest from professional artists working in the public art realm, to create original site-specific public artwork(s) for a new urban public park, near the Central Lonsdale Corridor. This project seeks to contribute a meaningful cultural element to the park, something that will be socially engaging, innovative and responsive to the site.
The park design, is envisioned as an oasis of calm in the urban core of the City. The design features a circular metal canopy with sections of covered areas that will provide sun and rain protection. Porch swings and hammocks hang from the trellis structure with pockets of seating areas around the edges of the park. An open area in the center will allow for flexible park activities. Playful elements include a water feature, small in ground trampoline and climbing boulders. A pollinator meadow frames the entrance to the park and the fenced dog area.
