The old Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre is closing on Saturday, June 27 to allow staff to transition into the new centre that will be opening in late July. For 60 years, the old centre has been part of so many memories and we wanted to take a moment to celebrate its next chapter.
Community members and current and former staff are invited to join us at a farewell open house on Friday, June 5 from 11am to 1pm in the old Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre lobby.
You can take a stroll down memory lane and check out the rooms and spaces, see renderings of the new facility and chat with City of North Vancouver staff who can answer questions about the building and construction, enjoy music by local musician and NVRC art teacher Cherie Summers, grab some light refreshments including sweet treats from our friends at Muffin Café, and write a memory or note of appreciation on the courtyard windows.
If you’re not able the make the event, the centre is open with regular programs and activities until June 27. Use our activity search tool to create find programs, book-a-visit activities and drop-in schedules.
We hope you can join us as we say farewell and thank the people and spaces that have meant so much to the community.
