It’s National Volunteer Week (April 27-May 3, 2025), and this year, we’re celebrating the amazing volunteers who bring NVRC’s programs to life!
In 2024, 150 volunteers contributed a whopping 7,500 hours to NVRC’s diverse range of programs, events and activities, helping with everything from swim lessons and specialty fitness classes to after-school programs and special events.
Our volunteers represent the incredible diversity of our community and help people connect and lead more active, creative, healthy lives. They inspire us every day with their passion and commitment to making a difference.
Take Mina, a volunteer in our Toddler & Me program. Mina is a newcomer to North Vancouver and decided to volunteer with NVRC as a way to meet people, practice her communication skills and learn about her new community. She loves working with children and did that in her home country of Iran. Earlier this year, she started using her experience with kids to support our early years Toddler & Me program and has also been helping out with NVRC art camps and as a coffee and tea host. She’d like to continue her career working with kids here in Canada and hopes that her experience with NVRC will help her pursue this goal.

Our summer camp volunteers are another shining example of the impact our volunteers have. Last summer, 86 volunteers gave over 5000 hours of support to 37 different types of camps. They helped kids get involved and engaged by playing games and sports, doing crafts, and supporting camp leaders—all while gaining leadership experience, developing new skills and making our camps unforgettable for every child involved.

Thank you to all our NVRC volunteers for bringing your incredible energy, commitment and support to everything you do. You inspire by example in so many ways, and we are so grateful for your generosity, dedication and talents.
