Centennial Theatre can accommodate a wide range of productions. We invite rental inquiries for performances, corporate receptions & events, screenings, festivals, workshops & lectures, celebrations and private functions. Centennial Theatre is pleased to be re-opening with operating procedures that comply with provincial Public Health Orders. Our protocols are in place to keep you and our staff as safe as possible. We appreciate your cooperation and support as we welcome the community back to the theatre.
Centennial Theatre requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination for those aged 12 and over who are participants in events and gatherings in the theatre. This includes audience members, ticket holders, rental staff, rental contractors and performers at Centennial Theatre.
Current Public Health restrictions provides for indoor gatherings up to 50% capacity. Auditorium audience sizes are capped at 300 seated or less (pending seating map requirements), 300 in the lobby, 50 seated in the studio, 70 on the patio, and there is also a maximum capacity in washrooms. Stage maximums are based on each performance and can be discussed with the Technical Supervisor. Seating in the auditorium and studio will be provided in family pods (2+people per pod) with seat space between. Seating plans can be discussed with the Box Office Clerk at the time of creating ticket services.
It is the renters’ responsibility to meet the existing Public Health Order requirements by conducting mandatory vaccine checks with all audience members, ticket holders, volunteers and stage performers. More information can be found on the Province of BC’s website.
Proof of Vaccination
By order of the Provincial Health Officer (PHO), everyone aged 12 years and older attending the following events must be fully vaccinated:
- Indoor ticketed concerts, theatre, dance, symphony and sporting events
- Movie theatres
- Indoor organized gatherings like weddings, parties, conferences, meetings and workshops
Providing proof of Vaccination
- BC Residents
BC residents 19 years and older, must show their BC Vaccine Card – either on your mobile phone or a paper printed version and,
- B.C. driver's licence or BC Services Card
- Photo ID issued by another province or territory
- People from other provinces or territories
- Provincially/territorially officially recognized vaccine record
- Valid government photo ID
- International Visitors
- Proof of vaccination they used to enter Canada (like ArriveCAN)
- Youth aged 12-18 years
- Youth aged 12 to 18 can carry their own BC Vaccine Card, or have a trusted adult carry it for them
- Youth are not required to show valid government photo ID
Masks/face coverings are mandatory in all public indoor spaces for everyone 5 years old and older, including all areas of Centennial Theatre. Masks can be removed when eating or drinking and performing on stage. Masks must be worn at all other times.
While physical distancing is no longer required, we ask all rental group participants to do their best to minimize congregating indoors.
Performances may have intermissions and the concession may be open with limited options.
Box Office and Ticket Purchases
If Centennial Theatre is providing ticketing for your event, ticket purchases will be done online, by telephone or in-person during limited box office hours.
If the ticketing is being handled by the rental group, all information about ticketing, refunds and information will be directed to the renter group ticketing coordinator.
Hand sanitizing stations will be available for rental group staff and performers at entrances, near the elevator, near auditorium entrances and in other high trafficked areas. Entry will be denied if illness is apparent.
Bar / Concessions
Depending on the style of event and the theatre’s ability to provide the service, the concession and bar may have limited services available.
Signage for maximum capacity will be posted outside of washroom entrances. Please comply accordingly.
