A large chessboard located outside the Parkgate Community Centre was created through a community public art project under the direction of artist Liz Calvin.

About the artist:
Liz Calvin has been passionate about creating mosaics for over 25 years. In addition to creating new works, she has shared her love for the medium by teaching adult classes and mentoring youth projects. Her public art pieces can be found on the sidewalks of downtown Vancouver, at Lonsdale Quay, the Parkgate Community Centre and at Noble Cove Housing Project on the North Shore.
