Connecting through Fitness
Elena grew up in Bucharest, Romania and moved to Canada 25 years ago. She started working with the NVRC in 2013 and works as a fitness instructor teaching 12 classes a week at various Community Recreation Centres. She is also a walk leader in the Summer Walking Series. Prior to working as a fitness instructor, Elena worked for a shipping company in logistics and transportation. She used those skills later when she worked for the logistics department with the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver.
What’s your favourite recreation pursuit?
Hiking and biking on the North Shore mountains and in Whistler.
What’s your favourite part of the day?
I love the mornings when it’s quiet and serene. It’s great to start a new day – it’s a gift in your life which I appreciate.
What’s something people don’t know about you?
I like to connect people through fitness because you can get to know others when you share fitness. I’ve organized a lot of hikes and lots of people have met and some have even found love!
