Whether you want to improve your health and wellness or achieve a specific fitness goal, we can help you take the first step. We have the beginner programs and classes that will show you just how easy (and fun!) it can be to start.  All this is available to you in our welcoming and supportive environments.

They are all certified fitness professionals who’ve worked with hundreds of people just like you and helped them get started with a fitness program.

Step 2 - Book a consultation or register for a program

Step 2

Book a fitness centre orientation (it’s free for fitness members or just pay the drop-in rate) or Get Started Consultation. To book, please email us with the location, date and time you would like to meet and one of our fitness centre staff will contact you.

Decide on a beginner fitness class to try

View our Fitness Classes and look for the Level 1 Easy Classes.  We offer both land and water based classes that can ease you into fitness.

Register for a beginner program in one of our many registered fitness programs.

You can choose the program you are most interested in whether it’s a beginner walking program, yoga, dance fitness, spin or one of our many strength and conditioning programs.

Step 3 - Try us out

Attend the fitness centre, or book-a-visit to a fitness class.

When you get there, introduce yourself to the instructor and let them know it's your first time. They’ll be happy to welcome you and let you know what to expect from the activity.  Also, let them know your goals. Once the class or program is over, talk to the instructor again and ask any questions you may have. And don’t stop there, we offer over 120+ Book-a-Visit fitness classes each week, including aquafit. Make sure you try at least two or three classes to find the ones you enjoy the most.

Step 4 - Go back for a second time

Come back and try the class or program again.

We know it takes time to make positive behaviour changes and adopt a new routine. That’s why it’s important to commit to coming back again. Maybe it’s only once a week with the goal of building up to two or three times per week as you become familiar with your new routine.  Research has proven it takes 3 months of practicing a new behaviour before it becomes a natural thing to do.

Invest in Personal Training

It can be challenging in the beginning to stick with a new fitness routine. You don’t have to do it alone. Our Health & Lifestyle Consultants are all certified personal trainers who can help you create the right workout for you and gently guide you through it. Part coach, part motivator, our personal trainers can help maximize your workout, teach you the right way to work out and help add variety to your workout. In addition to one-on-one personal training, we offer small group training. Get together with up to 4 of your friends or family members, choose the times you want to work out, and we'll provide the trainer. Learn more about personal training services.

Do you face financial barriers?

If you are a North Vancouver resident and cannot afford the full fee to participate in our programs, we can help you get active at a reduced rate.  Visit our Financial Assistance page for more information.
