Caribbean Days Festival

Celebrations & Events Grants support both small and large scale events that do so much to foster community connection and that contribute to residents’ quality of life and sense of identity; the program seeks to sustain and encourage growth in existing events and to support the development of new events.

Grant Availability

Applications to the Celebrations & Events Grants Program are closed for 2020.  Applications to the 2021 Early Intake will be accepted between Monday September 14, 2020 and the submission deadline at 4:30 pm on Tuesday October 20, 2020.
 

Celebrations & Events Grants Guidelines

The Celebrations & Events Grants Guidelines provide important program information including but not restricted to: eligibility considerations, guidance on application categories and submission processes, evaluation and review criteria, as well as annual reporting requirements.  Groups and/or organizations that are considering submitting an application to the Celebrations & Events Grants  Program are strongly encouraged to consult the Guidelines and to contact the Grants Officer before submitting an application.
 

Application Materials

Application materials for 2021 are currently under review and will be posted below later in the summer .  Please read the Program Guidelines before submitting an application.

Applications to the Celebrations & Events Grants Program are accepted in three categories:

A. Community Events

Funding supports the development of new events and fosters the sustainbility and growth of existing events that promote community connection and that contribute to residents' sense of belonging, identty and place.  Community Events are single-day events at a local neighbourhood scale.

Grants are available up to a maximum of $7,500 or up to 30% of the proposed event budget.  Matching funds can be a combination of cash and in-kind contributions.  In-kind contributions are limited to 20% of the overall budget.

  • Deep Cove Daze
  • Osprey Festival
  • N'chemus Day (Slahal Festival)
  • CityFest
  • North Shore Folk Fest
  • Pride at the Pier
B. (Major) Cultural Celebrations

Cultural Celebrations are large single and multi-day events at a regional scale - events and festivals that present a significant program of cultural activities and entertainments and that serve a regional aufience from around the North Shore, metro Vancouver and farther afield.  Grants are available up to a maximum of $15,000 or up to 25% of the proposed event budget.  Matching funds can be a combination of cash and in-kind contributions.  In-kind contributions are limited to 20% of the overall budget.

* At the recommendation of the Grants Committee, grant awards may be approved for up to three (3) years.

C. Arts Festivals

Arts Festivals present a coordinated program of artistically connected activities, exhibits or performances over a relatively compact schedule of events.  Grants are available up to a maximum of $18,500 or up to 25% of the proposed event budget.  Matching funds can be a combination of cash and in-kind contributions.  In-kind contributions are limited to 20% of the overall budget.

  • Blueridge Chamber Music Festival
  • Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival

* At the recommendation of the Grants Committee, grant awards may be approved for up to three (3) years.

Eligibility

Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to consult the Guidelines and to contact the Grants Officer before submitting an application. Eligible Applicants include:

  • registered not-for-profit arts and culture organizations, including multi-cultural and ethno-cultural organizations

  • other recognized arts groups

  • community service groups

  • community associations; merchants’ associations or business improvement associations

  • charitable organizations, and

  • other recognized community groups
